The first is the legal concept of ownership, which applies to collection objects and to album\s, and simply means physical possession in the usual way.

The second is specific to StampData, and refers to control of data, including its [[visibility to site visitors.

The two concepts overlap because we defer to the real-life owner when recording data about a real-life object; you have the stamp in your hand (ok, tongs), you will know whether the image\ you uploaded is of that stamp or not.

Collection objects must always be owned (although the owner might be unknown, or not be a StampData member). You may relinquish ownership of [[images and notes, thereby allowing others to manipulate them.
