A note is a bit of textual commentary that can be associated
with other things in the database.
A note has a title and a body. The title is a brief description of what is described in more detail in the body. Notes are either general, or owned by a particular member. A member's own notes can have the same categories of visibility as collection objects and images. The title is required, and must be unique among note titles for a member. The body is optional. A note with an empty body is basically the same as a tag as seen in many online systems. Notes can be associated with stamp types, objects, issues, issuers, watermarks, designs, etc. For those who absolutely need to match stamp types up with published catalogue numbers, private tags are an acceptable option. However, StampData respects catalogue publishers' copyright on their numbering systems, and will not tolerate either members-only or public tags that violate those copyrights. |
